The newly restored sanctuary of Main Street United Methodist Church will be rededicated during a combined worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday, and all are welcome to attend.

The congregation will commemorate the 100 years since the first dedication of the building, which is the third to house the 215-year-old congregation.

The inside and outside of the building have undergone a complete renovation, including refurbished stained glass windows.

Honored guests will include representatives from the church’s Boy Scout, Cub Scout and Girl Scout troops; Main Street Day Care and Preschool; representatives from their mission teams to Chile, Russia and Honduras; representatives from three sister churches started by Main Street (Macedonia African Methodist Episcopal Church, Magnolia United Methodist Church and Oxford United Methodist Church); the Centennial Committee, former pastors and the district superintendent, Dr. Rob Colwell.

Concertato on “The Sound of Joy,” a special arrangement of the Centennial Hymn written by Chris Ward and Dr. Morgan Wilson and arranged by John Dixon for congregation, choir, organ and two trumpets, will be premiered during the worship service.

The celebration will conclude with a reception provided by the church.
