James C. “Jimmy” Griffin Jr., 74, passed away surrounded by his family on Oct. 9, 2016. He was born in Nansemond County to the late Causey and Charlotte Griffin. Along with his parents, Jimmy is predeceased by a brother, Joseph D. Griffin, and a sister, Barbara Boyd.

Left to cherish his memory are wife, Hope Griffin; son, Michael W. Griffin (Susan), of Suffolk; daughters, Lynn G. Cheng (Andrew), of Alexandria, and Rebecca E. Griffin, of Suffolk; grandchildren, Alexander W. Cheng, Christopher Y. Cheng; brother, Sydney Griffin (Velna); sister-in-law, Earlene Griffin, brother-in-law, Richard Boyd; many nieces and nephews; beloved pet, Joy; and grand-dogs Jill, Jack, Jip, 2 Socks and Scooby.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, with the Rev. Matthew Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Winborne Cemetery.
