If you’re in the mood for something scary and don’t want to wait until Halloween, the perfect program for you is coming up on Tuesday.

The North Suffolk Library will host L.B. Taylor Jr., author of the “Ghosts of Virginia” book series. He will share intriguing cases of paranormal phenomena from South Hampton Roads, including legends of the Great Dismal Swamp, the famous Suffolk railroad light, haunted dolls at a house in Chesapeake and the paranormal experiences of Nat Turner.

Kirk Morrison, who works at the North Suffolk Library, said the library was pleased to have the opportunity to host the author.

“They’ve been popular for quite some time,” Morrison said. “It was really something that we jumped at. It’s a good opportunity both for him and for us.”

Taylor will be providing time at the end of the program for a question-and-answer session, Morrison added. In addition, Taylor will bring images so his audience can see all the ghostly details.

A program at the library last October that featured dramatic readings of Edgar Allan Poe classics drew more than 100 people, Morrison said.

“We had a program that we felt was very successful,” he said. If Taylor’s schedule allows, Morrison said, the library would like to have him back this October.

The program is free and open to all ages, though some of the material may be too creepy for very young children.
