Peggy Joyce Smith Gayle, 87, passed away Sept. 28, 2017. She was born in Suffolk, the daughter of the late Hersey Underwood Smith and Nellie Mae Eure Smith Byrd. She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Frank Lee Gayle; and a son, Frank Lee Gayle Jr. Peggy worked as a clerk at Village Auction Barn and was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church.

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Terry G. Beech; sons, Scott H. Gayle (Dean) and James E. Gayle III (Margarita); seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and sister, Betty Jean Hobbs.

A graveside service will be held Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. at Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery with the Rev. Matt Winters officiating. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation prior to the graveside service from 10 to 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory.
