Crews finishing new retail centers

Construction crews are expected to finish two new retail centers on Harbour View Boulevard this week, according to Tom Atherton III, president and principal owner of Atherton Construction and Development.

Both the 13,000-square-foot and 7,000 square-foot buildings had been delayed by weather since Christmas, he said. But the project that broke ground in April 2017 is expected to be fully constructed by the end of the week.

“We’ve already got tenants building out spaces, and as far as the site and shell, we’re 99-percent,” Atherton said.

He said space for Coastal Vision has been completed, while spaces are being prepared for E Nails salon, Tijuana Flats, Metro Diner and Mediterranean café Zoë’s Kitchen. Those five tenants will constitute about 13,000 of the 20,000 feet in retail space.

Two leases are in negotiation for the remaining 7,000 feet, along with several letters of interest.

“We’re trying to see who jumps first,” Atherton said.

The Metro Diner is scheduled to open early March, while Zoë’s Kitchen is set for mid-spring.
