The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy softball team picked up its first win of the season over Southampton High School Tuesday evening.

With a 3-0 win on the road, NSA moved to 1-0. It was a strong outing as the Lady Saints got a shutout from the pitching unit. Reese Byrd got the win after pitching five innings, striking out nine batters. Madison Inscoe finished the game pitching two innings and striking out four.

NSA also got a solo home run from freshman Maya McGowan. Anni Groves went 1-2 with an RBI while Jenna Elswick added a hit, RBI and a triple.
