Maebell (Mary Bell) Staggs-Boone entered eternal slumber on Monday, March 11, 2019, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late George and Maggie Staggs, born on Dec. 13, 1936.

She was employed at Bunny’s Restaurant as a cook. She also worked at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for several years as a housekeeper.

Maebell was a faithful member of Open Hands Christian Fellowship, where she served as a devoted Pastor’s Aide and church mother.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents, three brothers and four sisters.

Maebell is survived by her husband of 62 years, Joseph Boone; five daughters, Gloria J. Jenkins, of Cambridge, Md.; JoAnn Featherston (James); Erica H. Askins (Chauncey); Demetrious M. Boone; and Latisha M. Boone, all of Suffolk; one sister, Linda Harden (Thomas); one brother, Robert Staggs (Judy); two aunts, Bertha Mae Powell and Ruth Harrison; one uncle, James Staggs; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a hosts of other family members and friends.

Mrs. Boone’s visitation will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday at Healing Chapel Baptist Church.
