Nansemond River High School senior Caleb Pittman has committed to play baseball for Bryant & Stratton College.

In the midst of a solid season for the Warriors baseball team, Pittman is excited about the opportunity he has to play at the next level.

“This just felt like a good fit for me,” Pittman said. “I like what they have going on with their program, and their coaches were great people and very open.”

Pittman said the recruiting process was stressful in the beginning, but said he was comfortable now with his decision.

The senior Warrior had received interest from some schools in the Carolinas and in Florida. However, he felt staying in the area to develop would be good for him.

“I feel like Bryant & Stratton can develop me to where I want to be,” he said. “I just felt like they would be the school to push me.”

With Nansemond River sitting at 7-0, Pittman is glad he can continue focusing on the task at hand. He is currently 3-0 on the mound.

“So far we have been playing really well this season,” he said. “We might be young, but we are different from any team in my opinion. We come in with a mindset to win.”
