A man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a single-vehicle crash Sunday evening.

The crash in the 2100 block of Joshua Lane was reported at 8:25 p.m., according to a city press release. A vehicle reportedly struck a power pole and several trees.

The man had to be extricated from the vehicle and was airlifted by Nightingale with life-threatening injuries, the press release stated.

The roadway was closed until about 4 a.m. Monday as Dominion Energy repaired the power pole.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
