The Lakeland High School girls’ basketball team got its first win of the season Tuesday night against Great Bridge High School.

Lakeland came out strong with a 60-27 performance against Great Bridge High School. It was a good start to this season for the Lady Cavs, who want to build on what they accomplished last season with only winning a few games.

Jaelyn Brown led the way for the Lady Cavs with 14 points, while Kemonye Canady added 11 points. Nyeisha Savage had 10 rebounds and Zaria Green-Pope added eight rebounds of her own.

Lakeland will host a non-conference game against Churchland High School Thursday night. The Lady Cavs have a chance to start the season at 2-0 if they take care of business at home.
