Gas prices edged cheaper in the past week as gasoline stocks grew, measuring at 258 million barrels — “a stock level not recorded by the Energy Information Administration in nearly a year,” the press release states.

“Motorists across the country are paying less to fill up as U.S. gasoline supply outpaces demand this winter,” Holly Dalby, AAA spokeswoman, stated in a press release. “Typically, we see cheaper gas prices this time of year as motorists generally drive less.”

According to gasbuddy.com, gas prices in Suffolk ranged from $2.19 to $2.35 on Wednesday. That’s a decrease from the $2.24-to-$2.36 range that was recorded on gasbuddy.com on Jan. 7.
