SPD investigate Thursday afternoon shooting

Suffolk Police Department is investigating a Thursday afternoon shooting on Bank St. Ext., according to a news release.

“On Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, at 1:37 p.m., Suffolk Emergency Communications Center received notification of a person suffering from a gunshot wound,” the release said. “Preliminary investigation conducted by Suffolk Police has determined that the shooting incident occurred at a residence in the 700 block of Bank Street Ext where an adult male was stuck by gunfire in the leg. The victim attempted to self-transport, but later called Suffolk Emergency Communications Center for assistance from a nearby restaurant located in the 600 block of N. Main Street.”

The release also states SPD recovered a firearm from the residence where the incident occurred.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Paramedics administered advanced life support measures on the scene and then transported the victim to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing, and there is no further information available for release.
