Women’s business group has first meeting

Empowering Women in Business held its first meeting Aug. 5 at the Stillwater House Tea Room. Eleven women were in attendance.

Empowering Women in Business held its first meeting Aug. 5 at the Stillwater House Tea Room. Eleven women were in attendance.

Eleven women attended the first Empowering Women in Business Network Suffolk Chapter event on Aug. 5.

Held at the Stillwater House Tea Room on Prentis Street, the first event gathered local women to network. Each was given an opportunity to tell the others about her business.

The next event will be Aug. 19. The ticket price, $9.95, covers coffee, tea, breakfast, venue and gratuity. Bring 30 or more business cards and brochures to share.

The guest speaker will be Dana Wynne Steele of The Homestead Ranch in Suffolk, which seeks to provide a home for young women affected by human trafficking.
