Suffolk Humane Society will offer two four-week dog obedience classes beginning Wednesday, June 3, at the Magnolia Ruritan Club Building, 1029 Nansemond Parkway.

The-hour long classes will be held at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Qualified trainers with more than 25 years of experience will conduct the classes, which will teach basic commands, including heel, sit, down, stay and come. Their dogs have won numerous awards, including American Kennel Club agility championships.

Cost for the classes is $60 per dog, or $50 with proof of adoption. All proceeds will benefit the humane society. Space will be limited, so interested dog owners are encouraged to call as soon as possible.

“We offered classes in March, and due to their success, we are pleased to offer another series of classes,” said Eileen Gizara, humane society executive director. “We hope that by offering dog training, we can help people learn how to work with their pets, reduce the number of surrendered pets and help reinforce the human-animal bond.”
