Power was affected in the area of Deer Path Road overnight after a vehicle collided with an electrical pole.

The single-vehicle accident happened in the 4100 block of Deer Path Road. It was reported at 12:34 a.m., according to a city press release.

Preliminary investigation found the Ford sedan ran off the roadway, collided with the power pole and came to rest in a ditch. Wires were down across the roadway, so the road was closed and Dominion Power responded.

The 18-year-old male driver was airlifted by Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered life-threatening. A passenger refused treatment.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
