This week has brought a fresh round of thefts from vehicles in several different neighborhoods.

About eight victims in Burnett’s Mill reported thefts from their vehicles on Tuesday, according to a police report.

City spokeswoman Diana Klink said the vehicles were predominantly unlocked. They had been ransacked with typical items such as cellphones, wallets and loose change being stolen.

On Monday, about 25 cases of tampering with a vehicle or thefts from vehicles were reported in various areas including Canterbury Crest Lane, Cedar Crest Lane, Kendal Way, Burning Tree Lane, Nottingham Boulevard, Cherry Blossom Drive, Dover Court, Carolina Road and others.

In one case on Whimbrel Drive, a victim who had left his vehicle unlocked with the keys inside woke up to find his vehicle gone.

Items stolen in those cases included $150 in cash from one vehicle, smaller amounts of cash and change from other vehicles, an iPod Nano, an iPhone and a CD changer, among other items, according to a police report.

Suffolk police remind folks to lock the doors to their vehicles and not to leave desirable items in plain sight, Klink said.
