One man died in a crash on Carolina Road Wednesday afternoon.

Davey Kennedy Bellamy, 48, of Suffolk, died on the scene, according to a city press release.

The crash happened at 4:29 p.m. in the 4500 block and involved a Chevrolet work van and Chevrolet four-door sedan, which was driven by Bellamy. The van overturned.

An adult female was airlifted by Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, and an adult male was taken to the same hospital by ground ambulance. Both had serious injuries, according to the release.

Both directions of the road were closed for several hours. Traffic was detoured down nearby streets.
