James Whitley came the closest out of Lakeland High School’s golfers to making states, falling eight strokes shy with a 93 on Thursday during the Region 3A East tournament at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club in Front Royal.

Corey Hasson of the Cavaliers shot a 96, his best round of the year, and Jake Hardy shot a 103.

Unfortunately, Ben Leonard, Lakeland’s fourth regional qualifier, was unable to attend due to personal reasons.
