Bryan Lee Bergob

Bryan Lee Bergob, 19, of Birmingham died Friday, July 30, 1999 in an automobile accident.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 1, 1999, at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Chapel. Burial will follow in Southern Heritage Cemetery with Ridout’s Southern Heritage of Pelham directing.

He was a 1998 graduate of Chelsea High. He was a sophomore at Troy State University and a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Bryan was a humble, kind, sincere and loving son. He was an avid outdoorsman and had won numerous sporting awards.

Survivors include his parents, Tom and Teresa Bergob of Birmingham; two sisters, Heather Bergob and Jennifer Bergob of Birmingham; grandparents, Betty and L.D.Williams of Northport; Hazel and Bud McDonald of Florence; two aunts and uncles, Beth and Tom Dutton of Blount Springs; and Ellen and Richard Drummond of Johnson City, Tenn.; and two cousins, Laura and Megan Drummond of Johnson City, Tenn.

Pallbearers will be Wilson King, Luke Eldridge, Tapper Wood, Jeb Hargrove, Brandon Anderson and Doug Raby.

Memorials may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Central Alabama Chapter National Society, 3530 Independence Dr., Homewood, Ala. 35209.

Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, July 31, 1999 at Southern Heritage.

Samuel D. Crawford

Samuel D. Crawford, 69, of Petrey died Thursday, July 29, 1999, at his residence.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 31, 1999, from the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Mack Sporman officiating. Interment followed in the Providence Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

He retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of Master Sergeant.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Alene Crawford.

Survivors include one son, Robert D. Crawford of Petrey; two brothers, Leroy (Buster) Crawford and Bobby C. Crawford, both of Bonneau, S.C.; and numerous devoted brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.

John Milton Jernigan

John Milton Jernigan of Jacksonville, Florida, died Friday, July 30, 1999.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, August 2, 1999, at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Brundidge. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Brundidge with Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge directing.

He was born in Troy and had resided in Jacksonville for the past 25 years. He was a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Science receiving a Masters of Science degree. He had served his country as a Captain in the U.S. Army during WW II serving with the Chemical Warfare Division. He was retired from the Jacksonville Electric Authority where he served as a Chemist and was President and CEO of A.R.C.O. He was a member and Elder of Mandarin Presbyterian Church. Other memberships include: Wesconnett Masonic Lodge; Morocco Temple Shrine, Scottish and York Rites; and Elks Lodge #2106 with whom he established the Elks Rehabilitation Hospital of Alabama. He was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Josephine Jernigan; two daughters, Mary Jo Miller (Thomas) and Kay Jernigan Helton; three grandchildren, Kenneth Richard Helton Jr. (Robyn); John Jernigan Helton (Elizabeth), and Amanda Kay Jakes (Derek); two great-grandsons, Jacob Alexander Helton and Luke Benjamin Helton; three brothers, Joseph Edward Jernigan Jr.; Rev. Ralph Benjamin Jernigan, and Eric Cooper Jernigan; three sisters, Juanita Jernigan Pitts, Virginia Jernigan Sanders, and Frances Jernigan Golden; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Memorial donations may be made to the Mandarin Presbyterian Church or the Arthritis Foundation in memory of John Milton Jernigan.

Visitation will be held between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., Monday, August 2, 1999, at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge.

Willie B. White

Willie B. White, 69, of Springhill died Wednesday, July 28, 1999, at Jackson Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 3, 1999, at Friendship Baptist Church of Glenwood with Rev. J.M. Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Harrison Funeral Home directing.

He was born April 15, 1930, in Pike County. He was the son of Mary Lizzie Starlin and L.M. White. He was a member of Friendship Baptist of Glenwood.

Survivors include children, Willie Calvin White; John Lewis White; James Athur White; Mary Dean Youngblood, all of Springhill; daughter, Lue Alice May of Glenwood; three sisters, Lucy Mae King of Troy; Era Dubose of Sanford; and Vera Manning of Columbus, Ga.

Pallbearers will be friends of Mr. White.

Floralbearers will be nieces and friends of the family.

Visitation will be held between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m., on Monday, August 2, 1999 and from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., on Tuesday, August 3, 1999.
