The Brundidge Chapter of the Troy State Alumni Association will hold its charter meeting at 6:30 tonight at the Peanut Butter Barn and a packed house is expected.

As of Monday afternoon, the chapter had registered 110 members with more expected to sign on the dotted line today.

Randy Ross, president of the Brundidge chapter, said he is excited by the enthusiasm of the TSU alumni and friends from the Brundidge area and pleased with the response.

"We want to have the biggest and most active chapter, and if interest continues, we should be able to make it happen," he said.

The charter meeting will feature comments from TSU Chancellor Jack Hawkins, Jr. and a social hour.

"I’m not sure what Mike Amos has planned for tonight," Ross said, "but he did say he and Dr. Hawkins will be here. We’ll get the crowd and the refreshments and we’ll all have a great time as we make TSU alumni history when we receive the 30th charter of the TSU National Alumni Association."

All of those who join the Brundidge TSU Alumni Chapter before or at the charter meeting will be charter members and their names will be listed on a charter plaque which will be on display at TSU.

"We want to encourage all alumni and friends to join us for the meeting and, if you aren’t able to come, get us your name and membership fee so you can be a charter member of our association," Ross said.

Dues are $25 for two members of a family or $15 for an individual membership.

Jan Davis, association secretary, said special tee shirts are being printed which will be unique to the Brundidge chapter.

"We had hoped to have the shirts available for the charter meeting but they won’t be ready until Friday afternoon," Davis said. "We will take orders for the shirts at the charter meeting and they will be available for pickup at our Brundidge TSU Alumni tent in the tailgate area on homecoming Saturday."

Ross invites all TSU alumni and friends to the Peanut Butter Barn on South Main Street tonight for this special meeting.

"If you can’t come, call 735-3608 and leave your name and number and we’ll get you registered," he said. "All alumni and friends of the university will want to be a part of this historic event for Troy State and the Brundidge area."
