Toes will be tapping and hands will be clapping this weekend "all because it’s Christmas."
The Troy School of Dance will present its first "Christmas Spectacular" at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Adams Center for Performing Arts.
Tickets for the event are $6 and $3 and a canned good or toy for a child.
The students of the Troy School of Dance expressed an interest in incorporating the true spirit of Christmas season, giving, into their first Christmas show.
"I was so thrilled that our students realize that is truly more blessed to give than receive," said Laura Brown, co-owner of the dance studio.
Brown and co-owner Leslie Holley-Crook decided to support the Family Services Center with the donations of toys and food.
"Family Services is a private, not for profit agency which opened in February of this year," Brown said. "Its mission is to support and strengthen families by providing a coordinated network of services to promote self-sufficiency. This agency operates under the assumption that all children deserve to live in a family that provides food, shelter, love and a nurturing environment and that every person is entitled to a reasonable quality of life."
All food and items donated as admission to the show will be given to Family Services Center to be distributed to their most needy families for Christmas.
"The students of Troy School of Dance will spend the few days after the show boxing and wrapping the items to take to the center," Brown said. "We want to say thank you in advance to all of those who will donate so generously for such a worthy cause."
Tickets for the show are available at the Troy School of Dance, 102 North Three Notch through Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. or at the door.
