Lakeland to host youth basketball camp

A summer youth basketball camp for boys and girls ages 8 to 17 will be held from Monday, June 24 through Friday, June 28 at Lakeland High School. The morning session will run from 9 a.m. to noon. Campers receive 15 hours of instruction and a basketball. The cost is $100. Registration forms are available at each city public schools or by calling Coach John Fuller at Lakeland High School at 925-5530.

Girls’ basketball tryouts to be held June 28, 29

The Suffolk Department of Parks and Recreation is teaming with Sentara Family Care to promote regional basketball in the Hampton Roads area. Tryouts for girls ages 12-14 will be held at Birdsong Recreation Center on Friday, June 28 from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday, June 29 from 4-6 p.m. Proof of age will be required. Men’s softball league begins play in August

The Suffolk Parks and Recreation Department is forming a men’s softball league for men ages 18 and older. The cost is $300 per team, and the registration deadline is July 31.
