Christopher Johnson

On Sunday, July 7, 2002, Christopher Johnson departed this life. He was born on June 23, 1985 in Allentown, Pa. He was an 11th-grade student at Lakeland High School.

He was predeceased by a grandfather, Odell Wimberly Jr.

He leaves behind his mother, Cynthia J. Morris of Suffolk; father, Darrell C. Wimberly of Allentown. He also leaves behind his adopted maternal grandparents, Charles and Luetta Johnson, both of Suffolk; another grandparent, Loretta Jackson of Allentown; five brothers, Isaiah Johnson and Dontavius Johnson, both of Suffolk, Tyrone and Tyrell Straite and Tristin Wimberly, all of Allentown; three sisters, Shayla and Charlese, both of Suffolk, and Briana Wimberly of Allentown; one aunt, raised as a sister, Melinda Johnson of Suffolk; one uncle, raised as a brother, Charles Johnson of Portsmouth; two aunts, Pamela Wimberly and Roland Wimberly of Allentown; three others, uncles, Vincent, Quentin and Odell Wimberly III, all of Allentown; two great-grandparents, Idabell Chapman of Suffolk, and Ozzie Johnson of Newport News; one great-great-grandparent, Mary Lue Gary of Portsmouth; and several cousins, friends, and loved ones.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Faith Temple Apostolic Church by Overseer John Colander.

Interment will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery.

The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Johnson, 112 W. Constance Road.

Crocker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Willie R. Lynch

Willie R. Lynch, 80, of 715 Battery Ave., Suffolk, died Monday, July 8, 2002, in Tandem Nursing Home, Windsor.

Mr. Lynch was a native of Suffolk

He attended Antioch UCC, and worked as a presser at various cleaners in Suffolk.

He was predeceased by his wife, Ethel Lynch.

Survivors include a devoted niece, Vivian Renai Weaver of Suffolk; three sisters-in-law, Goldie Dillard, and husband, William, Dorothy Jones, and husband, Howard, and Mary Alice Brown, and husband, James, all of Baltimore, Md.; one brother-in-law, Lawrence Weaver, and wife, Shirley, of Hampton; and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

The funeral will be held at noon Friday in Wyatt and Sons Funeral Home Inc., with the Rev. Edward Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Carver Memorial Cemetery.

Viewing will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Family and friends will assemble at 11 a.m. Friday at 715 Battery Ave. for the procession.

Robert O. Wynn

Robert O, Wynn, 94, of 2100 Kentucky Ave., Suffolk, died Thursday, July 4, 2002 in Maryview Medical Center, Portsmouth.

He was a native of Florida, and the son of the late John Henry and Daisy Wilkins Wynn.

He had retired from the Norfolk Naval Base.

He was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church and Mt. Vernon Mason Lodge No. 48.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys Wynn of the home; two sisters, Johnnie Mae Flemmings of Texas, and Elma Hogan of Ft. Pierce, Fla. his goddaughter, Angelia &uot;Boo Outlaw&uot; of Hopewell; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Metropolitan Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Robert Hobbs. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.

The body will be placed in the church at 11:30 a.m.

Beatrice O. McCotter

Beatrice O. McCotter, 94, of Suffolk, died Monday, July 8, 2002.

The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Suffolk Christian Church, with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Allen R. White

Allen Russell &uot;Joe&uot; White of 4895 Deer Path Road, Suffolk, died Saturday, July 6, 2002, in Obici Hospital.

He was a native of Nansemond County, and was a son of the late Addie Knight.

He had retired as a welder at Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Company, and was a former member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.

His survivors include one daughter and her husband, Janical and Melvin Harris of Suffolk; four sons and their spouses, Ronnie and Rosalyn White, Harry and Ann Marie White, Freddie and Thomasine White, and Allen Lamont White, all of Suffolk; six sisters, Louise Knight, Beulah Bailey, and her husband, Spencer, Clara Kindred, Archie Lyons, and her husband, George, all of Suffolk, Dorothy Smith, and Carrie Gerena, and her husband, George, all of Passaic, N.J.; one sister-in-law, Betty White of Paterson, N.J.; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a devoted friend, Linda; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Crocker Funeral Home by Pastor Eugene Wiggins. Interment will be in Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be at the residence, 4895 Deerpath Road, and at the home of Louise Knight, 4969 Indian Trail Road.
