A Portsmouth man is behind bars for allegedly videotaping himself raping an 11-year-old Suffolk girl, who may have been a victim of the crime for years.
Information released to Hampton Roads media outlets Friday night states that Eugene E. Griffin Jr., 40, of the 3800 block of East Greenway Court, is being held in the Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond. Griffin was arrested on Monday.
Suffolk Police Spokesman Mike Simpkins would not confirm any details of the case for the News-Herald on Saturday. An arrest report was unavailable at the police department as of Saturday evening, according to police on duty in central files.
WAVY-TV 10 reports that Griffin has been charged with rape, sodomy, producing child pornography, and other charges.
Station sources also point to an investigation under way by Portsmouth authorities involving a three-year-old victim, who was videotaped during an assault.
Suffolk and Portsmouth police are continuing the investigation into the case. Anyone with information regarding the case should call Suffolk Police at 923-2350 or Crime Line at 539-1222.
