Steve P. Hill

Steve Predell Hill, son of the late Jodie Hill Sr. and Emma Marie Rollins, was born on March 29, 1949 in Suffolk. He quietly passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2002, in Obici Hospital.

Steve was educated in Suffolk Public Schools.

He was employed at Kraft (Planters) for 34 years.

Steve is survived by his wife, Margaret J. Eley Hill; two daughters, Linda Marie Hill of Norfolk, and Sable Nicole Hill of Suffolk; one son, James Reid of Suffolk; one goddaughter, Leslie Osborne (DiJon) of the Bronx, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Tymara, William, Lakeem, Alexus, Trevor, Kaylah Hill, Meima and Dante Osborne; one great-grandson, Delvontae King; one sister, Rose Marie Epps of Baltimore, Md.; two brothers, Raymond Hill (Janice) of Suffolk, and Jodie Hill Jr. (Barbara) of Baltimore; two uncles, Maurice Hill of Baltimore, and Columbus Hill of Suffolk; one great-aunt, Margaret Rogers; six sisters-in-law, Willie Mae Melton of Portsmouth, Jacqualine Jones of Carrollton, Barbara Hill of Baltimore, Cynthia Edwards and Janice Hill of Suffolk; five brothers-in-law, James Eley of Pittsburgh, Pa., Arthur Eley of Baltimore, Isiah Edwards, Calvin Edwards and Thomas Mabry of Suffolk; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Anthony Copeland officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery.

Viewing will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Friday in T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home.

At other times the family will receive friends at 206 Cypress Court.

Gerard C. Dawson of Suffolk and New York City died Monday, July 15, 2002, in St. Vincent’s Hospital, New York City. Arrangements in Suffolk are pending through R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home.

Eliza G. DeBause

Eliza G. DeBause, 80, of 2505 Gilmerton Road, Chesapeake, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, in Sunbridge Health Care & Rehab Center.

The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.

Friends may join the family from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday in Harrell and Hill Funeral Home, and other times at the residence of the granddaughter at 556 Lanier Crescent, Portsmouth.
