2nd Spain to head to JMU

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy senior Ann-Taylor Spain, who achieved All-TCIS honors in basketball and volleyball during her Lady Saint years, will join her older sister Liz at James Madison University in the fall.

Spain plans to enroll in the school of integrated science and technology.

DAA looking for youth football, cheering coaches

The Downtown Athletic Association is recruiting football and cheerleading coaches for the 2004 Pop Warner Football season. Participants range from 5 to 15 years of age.

Suffolk Blazer golf tourney comes June 23

The Suffolk Blazers will hold a charity golf classic on June 23 at the Nansemond River Golf Club to raise money for the team’s expenses in traveling to national competition in late June, which could run into the high five-figure marks.

An entry fee of $95 includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, free drinks and lunch. The format is four-person best ball team. For more information on the event, call 735-3814.
