Cavaliers come back to win soccer tournament

After losing their first game of the &uot;Got Milk? 3-on-3&uot; soccer tournament this past weekend at Lake Taylor in Norfolk, the Suffolk Cavaliers rebounded to win their next five by a combined score of 38-7. This brought them to the championship game, where they would take on Sti Soccer, the team that had handed them their first loss.

David Smith, Daman Stancill, Mark DeJesus, and Bill Higbea rose to the occasion, defeating Sti 6-2 to win the championship. The win earned the Cavaliers a bid in regional competition.

&uot;We knew we could win, because we’d all been playing together for a while,&uot; said Smith, who played on Lakeland High School’s varsity team with all of his teammates for the past two seasons. &uot;Now, we have a choice of going to either East Brunswick, N.J., or Knoxville, Tenn. for the regionzal finals. I think we’re going to Knoxville. There’s not telling how we’ll do, because it’s going to be a lot tougher.&uot;
