Clippers to battle Norfolk tonight at BTW

The Lake Kennedy Clippers will take on the Norfolk Knights at 6:30 p.m. tonight in Booker T. Washington Recreation Center. The Clippers will be attempting to get past the .500 mark, as they are 3-3 for the season.
Pillerton’s blast sends Knights to title game
Michael Pilerton bashed a three-run home run to send the 15U Virginia Knight to the Championship game of the AAU tournament in Knoxville, Tenn. with a 5-4 victory over Northern California.
Jason Rock had a pair of doubles for the Knights, and Wes Conroy got the win from the mound.
Local Jazzercise program to hold Open Houses
The Suffolk Jazzercise program will be holding two free Open Houses in early August. The first one will be held at King’s Fork Recreation Center from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 5.
The second will be held at Wilroy Baptist Church at 300 Williams Road from 6 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 6.
The original dance exercise phenomenon, the class blends jazz dancing and exercise science to help people get in shape while grooving to the music! It combines aerobics, yoga, Pil-ates, and other exercise techniques to build muscle and stamina.

Smithfield softball team to hold tryouts Sept. 14
A Smithfield select softball team for girls age 10 and under is being formed. Tryouts will be held at Nike Park on September 7-8 at 2 p.m. for all positions except pitcher and catchers.
Pitchers and catcher tryout will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 14 at Nike Park.

Baseball, softball signups end today
Bennetts Creek Little League fall baseball and fast-pitch softball pre-registration is open via the league Web site at www.bennettscreek.org. Youths ages 7-16 as of Aug. 1 are eligible. Payment of fees will be accepted from 6-9 p.m. tonight in the board room behind Driver Elementary School.
