SYAA Super Colts win two to get to title game

After losing 12-4 to Little Creek American (LCA) on Monday, the 15U AAU Suffolk Youth Athletic Association (SYAA) Super Colt team came back to beat Kempsville 13-2 and LCA 4-2 on Tuesday. Mike Brown and Adam Keeling were the winning pitchers, respectively. The wins pushed SYAA into the championship game against LCA, which was played at 7 p.m. Wednesday (statistics unavailable at press time).

Youth football league to hold registration Aug. 5

Registration for the Down-town Athletic Association (DA-A) Titans football and cheerleading teams will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 5 at Wellons Park. Boys and girls ages 5-11 are eligible to register.

The cost is $55 for the first child and $45 for each additional child in the family. Children ages 5-7 are eligible to signup for flag football, and children ages 8-11 can sign up for Junior Pee-Wee ball. Local Jazzercise program to hold Open Houses

The Suffolk Jazzercise program will be holding two free Open Houses in early August. The first one will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 5 at King’s Fork Recreation Center. The second will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 6 at Wilroy Baptist Church at 300 Williams Road.

The original dance exercise phenomenon, the class blends jazz dancing and exercise science to help people get in shape while grooving to the music! It combines aerobics, yoga, Pil-ates, and other exercise techniques to build muscle and stamina. For more information, contact Ella Benson at 488-1055.

Smithfield softball team to hold tryouts Sept. 14

A Smithfield select softball team for girls age 10 and under is being formed. Tryouts will be held at 2 p.m on Sept. 7-8 at Nike Park. for all positions except pitchers and catchers. Pitchers and catcher tryout will be at 2 p.m. on Sept. 14 at Nike Park. Deadline for signing up for a free tryout is Aug. 30.
