The Lakeland golf team defeated Nansemond River 319-348 Wednesday afternoon at the Chesapeake Golf Course. Greg Hunt of Nansemond River won his second medallist honor of the season with a 71 (+1).
Aug. 30 NSA football game moved to afternoon
The time for the Nansemond-Suffolk Academy football game Aug. 30 at home against Christchurch has been moved to 3 p.m. because of the Dominion Power strike.
Holland Athletic Assoc. announces signup dates
The Holland Athletic Associ-ation will have player registration for football and cheering at the ballfields in Holland on the following dates and times: From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today; From 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 18; and from 8 to 10 a.m. Aug. 24
(practice will then be held from 10 a.m. to noon). Players must be at least 10, and cannot turn 14 before Jan. 1, 2003. Copy of proof of age will be required. For more information, call 657-6823 or 657-6240.
Sting softball team to hold September tryouts

Smithfield softball team to hold tryouts Sept. 14
A Smithfield select softball team for girls age 10 and under is being formed. Tryouts will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 7-8 at Nike Park for all positions except pitcher and catchers. Pitching and catching tryouts will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 14 at Nike Park. Tournament team selection will be made by Sept. 17.
Deadline to sign up for a free tryout is Aug. 30.
