The Suffolk Rotary Club is going hog wild for its 2002 charity drive, raffling off a 2003 Harley-Davidson anniversary Sportster 1200 custom motorcycle.
The 100th anniversary model is two-tone sterling silver and black with a two-piece tank emblem with gold cloisonn, anniversary seat logo, and 100-year engine covers. The bike has a 21-inch laced front wheel, chrome slotted rear disc, custom handlebar riser, forward foot controls, drag bar, and a powerful 1200 cc Evolution(r) engine.
The winning ticket will be drawn at the close of Peanut Fest, on Oct. 13 on the Bud Fest Main Stage.
The motorcycle, supplied by Harley-Davidson Bayside, Portsmouth, will be on display at SunTrust Bank, 123 N. Main St., through Oct. 9, said Lynette Brugeman, who is handling publicity for the raffle. It will be at the Peanut Fest site from Oct. 10-13.
Tickets, which go on sale today, cost $10. Only 2,500 tickets are being sold, Brugeman said.
Tickets can be purchased from any Suffolk Rotarian, at Peanut Fest, or from Richardson & Nash Clothiers at 126 N. Main St.
The money raised from the project will be used to support projects funded by the club’s community service projects, such as KidsZone, Meals on Wheels and Paint Your Heart Out, said Brugeman.
