Mike Fault drove in five runs and William Jordan three as the Buckhorn Pirates raced to a 15-1 five-inning victory over the A.J. Gators at Peanut Park on Tuesday evening. A seven-run fifth inning pushed the sea warriors to the Parks and Recreation Department league victory.

&uot;We had to hurry up and get it over with so we could get to the cold ones!&uot; said Jordan, who along with his twin, Willy, scored four runs. &uot;But it’s just a game; you do what you have to do.&uot;

They did so from the first inning. With two outs, Robert Fleetwood, Telly Green, and Harry Arrington loaded the bases for Fault, who brought them all in by bashing a single into centerfield.

Three runs ahead, the Pirates held the Gators scoreless in their half, and a Fleetwood single knocked in both Jordans in the second to move the score to 5-0. The Gators went down in order, and the one-base hit became the Pirates’ most effective weapon in the third, as they scored four runs with five singles.

The first, by Green, moved Arrington to third, and Arrington and Fault singled home both runners. Wayne Richardson singled Arrington home, and the score was 8-0.

Billy O’Prandy finally breathed some life into the Gators when he beat out an infield single in the third. Chris McCann singled O’Prandy home, and the Gators seemed to have some momentum. But neither team scored in the fourth, and the Pirates had their biggest inning in the fifth.

Arrington started things with a double to centerfield with one out, and Fault cashed him in with a single. Richardson flew out, but Willy slammed home Fault, and the next two batters singled to load the bases. William hit a pop fly past the Gator rightfielder, and all three runners came to the plate.

Even with a 12-run advantage, the Pirates weren’t satisfied. Fleetwood singled to right field to drive William home, and Junior Faulk tripled Fleetwood in to extend the lead to 15-1.

The Gators were held scoreless in their half of the inning, and the game ended early.

Both teams return to action on Thursday.

The Pirates will take on SBI at 6:45 p.m. at Peanut Park, and the Gators will square off with Winning Edge at 6:45 and 7:45 p.m. at Monogram Field.
