Dukes Hoggard Jr., 68, of the 300 block of Goodman Street, Suffolk, died Wednesday, Oct. 2 in Obici Hospital.

He was a native of Windsor, N.C., and the son of Elmer D. Hoggard and Francis G. Hoggard.

He was a self-employed plasterer, and a member of New Mount Joy Family Worship Center.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Annie T. Hoggard.

Survivors include his wife, Fera Hoggard; eight daughters, Gloria D. Goodman, and husband, Eugene, of Richmond, Janice Hoggard, Tammie Hoggard, Chiquita Hoggard, Michelle H. Turner, and Doris Peele, all of Suffolk, and Margie Carter and Shantena Freeman, both of Williamsburg; six sons, Elmer Hoggard, and wife, Sereta, of Portsmouth, Terry Hoggard, Gary Hoggard and Keith Hoggard, all of Suffolk, Terence Hoggard of Kansas City, Kan. and Rupert Earl Mitchell of Windsor; two sisters, Rosa L. Hoggard of Roslyn Heights, N.Y., and Edith Stephens of Mineral Spring; five brothers, Calvin Hoggard of Williamsburg; Mack Hoggard and

Frances Hoggard, both of Windsor; Elmer Hoggard of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Morgan Hoggard of North Carolina; one devoted granddaughter, Tappata Hoggard of Suffolk; 35 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in New Mount Joy Family Worship Center, Suffolk, with the Bishop W.P. Wiggins, officiating. Interment will follow in Carver Memorial Cemetery.

Viewing will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday in Wyatt & Sons Funeral Home.

The body will be taken to the church at 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Family and friends will assemble at 1 p.m., Monday at 917 Railroad Ave. for the procession.
