Editor, the News-Herald:
By means of this letter, I want to offer a public thank-you to the persons who made possible a wonderful Hearts and Hammers Dinner to benefit the Suffolk Project of Habitat for Humanity.
This annual event is a co-operative effort of churches and their members who sell tickets, purchase food, prepare food, serve food, decorate the hall, and enjoy the evening together.
Special gratitude is offered to Bill Ashley, who coordinated the food service, and his faithful crew from West End Baptist and First Baptist (Main Street) churches; to Kristi Hall for her angelic vocal music; to Marva Parker for table dcor; to Clarissa McAdoo, Francine Davis and John Gabriele for their presentations; to Lakeland High School Key Club for serving and clean-up; to Luefras Robinson of the Suffolk News-Herald for her generous features; and to First Baptist Church for allowing the use of their Family Life Center.
The event raised over $4,000, a significant beginning to the fund-raising for Suffolk’s Habitat House No. 15.
