Joyell Pugh, Kevin Davidson wed in Christ and St. Luke’s Episcopal

Joyell Lynnette Pugh and Kevin Thomas Davidson were united in marriage on Saturday, April 13, 2002, in Christ and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Norfolk. The Rev. James W.H. Sell performed the ceremony.
Readers were Dr. John R. Kimball, pastor of Cypress Chapel Congregational Christian Church, Suffolk, and Leigh Hancock, friend of the bride. A reception followed at the James Madison Hotel.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Phyllis Burwell of Laurel Springs, N.C., and Mr. Robert Pugh of Winston-Salem, N.C.
The groom is the son of Stephen T. and Janet S. Davidson of Suffolk.
The bride is the granddaughter of Mrs. Eula Gray Witherspoon, the late Mr. Wade H. Witherspoon, Mrs. Helen Burwell, the late Mr. Danny E. Burwell Sr., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Guy W. Pugh.
The groom is the grandson of Mrs. Marjorie W. Davidson, the late Mr. J.O. Davidson Jr., Mrs. Margaret B. Speight, and the late Mr. Johnny W. Speight.
The bride is a graduate of Millbrook High School and earned a B.S. in political science and a B.A. in psychology from East Carolina University.
She is employed at Cannon Hygiene/AWI of VA in Norfolk.
The groom is a graduate of Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, and earned a B.S. in construction management at East Carolina University.
He is employed at W.M. Jordan Co. in Newport News.
Mr. Pugh was his daughter’s escort, and the groom’s father, Mr. Davidson, served as best man.
Jennifer D. Hall, friend of the bride, served as maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were: Melody S. Pugh, sister of the bride; Mrs. Amy H. Parrott, friend of the bride; Virginia B. Burwell, cousin of the bride; and Mrs. Terri D. Burwell, sister-in-law of the bride. Stephanie D. Burwell, sister of the bride, and Bailey D. Burwell, niece of the bride, served as flower girls.
Groomsmen were Robert L. Earl III, David G. Lawrence Jr., Jared D. Rundell, and Charlie C. Wooten, friends of the groom. Ushers were Scott D. Burwell, brother of the bride, and Wesley M. Bynum, friend of the groom. Matthew W. Burwell, nephew of the bride, served as ring bearer.
The groom’s parents were host and hostess at a rehearsal dinner Friday evening at Freemason Abbey. Following a western Caribbean honeymoon, Mr. and Mrs. Davidson are residing in Chesapeake.
