Paul J. Lux

Paul J. Lux, 84, of Suffolk, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, in Obici Hospital. Born on Dec. 26, 1917 in Bethlehem, Pa., he was a son of the late George J. Lux and Helen Mroshinski Lux.

Mr. Lux had retired from Angus I. Hines Inc. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Suffolk.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Margaret Lassiter Lux; four children, Mary Margaret Zoellner of Boothwyn, Pa., Paulette Ehly of Stewart, Fla., Paul D. Lux of Newport News, Patrice Jones, and husband, John, of Suffolk; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Clem A. Lux of Okeechobee, Fla.; many nieces, nephews and friends.

He is predeceased by two brothers, Vincent G. Lux and Rev. Father Vincent Ferrer Lux, OP; one sister, Monica J. Lux; and a granddaughter, Mary Kirsten Zoellner.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held by Father Joseph Slattery at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 202 S. Broad St., Suffolk. Burial will follow in Cypress Chapel Christian Church Cemetery, Suffolk.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, is in charge of arrangements.

Mildred B. Williams

Mrs. Mildred B. Williams of Hobson departed this life on the afternoon of Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, in Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth.

She was the widow of Beverly Bennie Williams, and the daughter of the late Make and Jessie Bumpus.

Mildred was educated in Nansemond County Public Schools, and lived for many years in New Jersey.

For the past 47 years she made her home in her native Hobson.

Mildred retired from Smithfield Packing Co.

She was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church and a dedicated member of Daughters of Salem, Tent No. 61.

Her survivors are her daughter, Alice W. Hudgins of Teaneck, N.J.; one grandson, Patrick Hudgins, and his wife, Angela Hudgins, of Little Rock, Ark.; one granddaughter, Alison DuBois of Teaneck; one great-grandson, David DuBois of Teaneck; one brother, George Bumpus, and his wife, Beverly Bumpus, of Little Rock; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Mackey and Mrs. Martha Faison of Bridgeport, Conn.; a son-in-law; one brother-in-law; several first cousins; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.

The family will receive friends at 8368 Hudgins Circle.
