Suffolk high schools will play for title on Monday

Lakeland and Nansemond River will play for the Southeastern district title on Monday after both secured 1-0 wins on Wednesday. Lakeland defeated host Hickory and Nansemond River defeated host Indian River.
The playoff game for the title will be played at 4:30 p.m. on Monday at Western Branch High School in Chesapeake (district rules state that all playoff games must take place at a neutral site). The district champion will also receive an automatic bid into the regionals.
Saints lose in three to Trinity Episcopal
Trinity Episcopal defeated host Nansemond-Suffolk Aca-demy 25-23, 25-22, 25-19 on Wednesday afternoon. Allen Bynum spiked home seven kills, and Brandon Winslow had six blocks. The Saints will host Catholic on Monday and Norfolk Christian on Tuesday.
Karate school to hold Open House Saturday
In honor of National Martial Arts Day, Jeff Bateman’s School of Karate on Portsmouth Boulevard will be holding an Open House from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Junior golfers to face Western Branch Sunday
The Southeastern Junior Golf Academy will be taking on Western Branch at noon on Sunday at the Suffolk Golf Course (SGC).
Representing the Academy will be such players as Nanse-mond River High School student Gregory Hunt and Suffolk resident Binford Hunter, who won their respective age groups at the Academy’s 2002 Club Championship at SGC Sept. 28-29.
