The Suffolk Art League in cooperation with the Suffolk Museum will offer the following art classes and workshops. CHILDREN’S DRAWING AND PAINTING CLASS

Tuesdays, November 19 – December 10

Instructor will be Gail Saunders

Students will learn ways to improve their drawing skills including uses of perspective, spatial relationships, shading and more. They will also have the opportunity to create and acrylic painting on canvas paper while learning about mixing and blending color, uses of color, value and composition. All necessary materials provided.

QUILTING HOLIDAY FUN

Thursdays, Nov. 14 & 21

The holidays will provide the inspiration for a few last minute quilting and craft items to create and share. This two-week class will present different techniques and methods for making holiday theme quilted items. Additional materials fee.

CLAY NATIVITY I

Saturday, Nov. 23 10 a.m. – 12 noon

For ages 5 to 12

Instructor will be Linda Glasscock Bunch

Students will have the opportunity to create terra cotta figures representing Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus in a manger. These will be fired and returned to the museum for pick-up. All materials and firings included.

CLAY NATIVITY II

For ages 6 to 14

Students will have the opportunity to add to their clay Nativity Scene by selecting one of the following groups to make from terra cotta clay.

These will be fired and returned to the Suffolk Museum for pick-up. All materials and firings included.

PASTEL WORKSHOP: OIL STICKS/OIL PASTEL

Tuesday, December 3

10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

For ages 14 to adult

Registration fee is $23.50 S.A.L. members/$25 non-members

Registration deadline is Nov. 19 (materials must be ordered for this class, no registration will be accepted after Nov. 19.

Instructor will be Debbie Hobbs.

This class offers students the opportunity to experiment with oil sticks and oil pastels. Oil Sticks are vibrant in color and compatible with all oil-based art mediums. Beginning with the large oil sticks and finishing the work with smaller oil pastels, students will create a painting using various images as source material. Oil Sticks and paper included. Bring your own oil pastels or pay an optional $5 materials fee.
