Helleon O. Holland

Helleon Omega Holland, 67, ascended to heaven on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002. As a native of
Suffolk, he was the sixth son born to the Rev. John Jasper Holland and Iola Hargrove Holland (both deceased).
Helleon was a member of Laurel Hill United Church of Christ of Suffolk where he was a former trustee and treasurer for more than 20 years.
After graduating from Nansemond County Training School, he was drafted into the U.S. Army.
He retired from Newport News Shipbuilding after 30 years of service as a nuclear electrician.
He is survived by his wife, Lula Ersell Barrett Holland; his daughter, Helivi L. Holland, Esquire; three brothers, Waymond (Lucille) Holland, Howard (Jessie) Holland and Ronnie Holland; four sisters, Mary H. Edmonds, Jacquel H. Parker, Lenora H. (Sherman) Tiggle, and Alice Marie H. (Charles) Williams; one aunt, Grizzell Wilmore; one sister-in-law, Beatrice (James) Evans; one godson, S. Darryl Tiggle; two grand-godsons, Isaiah Williams and Garrett Williams; a &uot;special grandson,&uot; Travis Deon Gatling; 11 nephews; nine nieces; 27 great nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives; and a devoted pet, Gorgeous II.
He was predeceased by two brothers, John W. (Carnell) Holland and George (Brenda) Holland.
A heartfelt expression of gratitude is given to the staff of Nansemond Pointe Rehabilitation Center, Artificial Kidney Center of Suffolk, Obici Hospital, Therbia Parker Sr., and Deborah Davis, LPN.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, in Laurel Hill UCC with Pastor Carl Sweat Jr., D. Min., officiating. Interment will be in the church’s cemetery.
The family will receive guests at the home of his daughter at 803 Haskins Dr., Suffolk.
