Candlelight Tour of homes this weekend

The Suffolk-Nansemond Historic annual Candlelight Tour will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 7-8 in the Riverview section of Suffolk. Cost is $5 per single house, $12 for block tickets (pre-sale) and $15 for block tickets (day of the tour). Tickets are now at the Seaboard train station on North Main Street, or at Riddick’s Folly, 934-1390.
Proceeds benefit local restoration projects.
The following homes will be open: Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Powell, 501 N. Broad St.; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Brothers, 313 W. Riverview Dr.; Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Birdsong, 813 Dumville Ave.; Dr. and Mrs. Robert D’Haem, 724 Riverview Dr.
Vintage cars (1920s and 1930s) from the Cape Henry Model A Ford Club of Chesapeake parked in front of the home sites.
For ticket-holders there will be refreshments and a candle-dipping activity at the station. Civil War re-enactors from Battery M, Second United States Artillery will be present. Reservations are required for a holiday greenery presentation from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday; and at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. Sunday, a visit with St. Nicholas; both take place at Riddick’s Folly.
