Highlee Hale

Mrs. Highlee Hale, 95, of 4953 Sleepy Hole Road, Suffolk, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, in Maryview Medical Center.

She was a native of Nansemond County, and the daughter of the late Dempsey Walton and Alice Faulk-Walton. She was the widow of George Henry Hale Sr.

She was a member, deaconess and mother of Little Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and she belonged to its Senior Choir and other auxiliaries.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Hale of Suffolk, Beatrice Hale of Portsmouth, and Alice Durden of Detroit, Mich.; three sons, Walter Hale, and his wife, Hattie, and Matthew Hale, all of Suffolk, and George Hale Jr., and his wife, Joyce, of Portsmouth; 27 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; a nephew, James Walton; two nieces; and several other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Poplar Run Baptist Church by the Rev. Keith Mayfield Sr. Interment will be in Poplar Run Baptist Church Cemetery.

The body will be placed in the church at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
