Patsy C. Pope

Mrs. Patsy Copeland Pope, 71, of 624 Mason Ave., Suffolk, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, in Obici Hospital. She was a native of Nansemond County and a daughter of the late Charlie and Lizzie Boone Pope, and the widow of Willie Ray Pope Sr. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Linda Ray Pope, and a son, Jimmie Louis Pope.

She was a retired domestic worker.

She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church where she served on the Missionary Board No. 2. She was also a member of the Copeland Family Circle.

Mourning their loss are her beloved five sons, Willie Ray Pope Jr, and wife, Deloise, Charlie E. Pope, Eric Pope and Hector Pope, and wife, Tammy, all of Suffolk; and Kennard S. Pope, and wife, Valerie, of Baltimore, Md.; her beloved five daughters, Patsy Brown, and husband, Clarence, Loraine Peele, and husband, Clifton, and Juanita P. Reid, all of Suffolk, Gloria P. Hanna, and husband, Jayward, of Chesapeake, and Amonica P. Foster, and husband, Terrence, of Suwanee, Ga.; a daughter-in-law, Gail Pope of Connecticut; three sisters, Marzella Brown, Minnie Eley and Thelma Rodgers, all of Suffolk; one brother, Joe Louis Copeland of

Suffolk. Patsy also leaves to cherish her memory 28 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a devoted friend, Charlie Green.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, in Gethsemane Baptist Church by the Rev. Nathaniel Scates Jr. Interment will be in Gethsemane Church Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
