Charlie Jacobs Jr. of 1015 Nansemond Parkway, Apartment 702 G., Suffolk, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, in Obici Hospital.

Arrangements will be announced at a later time.

Willie Lassiter Sr.

Willie Lassiter Sr., 79, of Suffolk, quietly passed away on Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, in Obici Hospital.

He was born on Aug. 29, 1922, in Conway, N.C. to the late Rufus and Ella Lewter Lassiter. One son preceded him in death, Willie Lassiter Jr.

He is the husband of Lossie Cooper Lassiter.

He was a member of Tabernacle UCC Church of Suffolk.

He is survived by his wife Lossie Lassiter, four daughters, Florence (Richard) Charris, Carolyn (Hersey) Flythe, Ella Riddick, and Pearlie Henry; four sons, Rufus Lassiter, James E. (Celeste) Lassiter, William (Rose) Lassiter, and Terry Goodman; one brother, Ernest Lassiter; one aunt, Acrie Jeffers; one sister-in-law, Inez Lassiter; 24 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren,

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Tabernacle UCC Church with the Rev. Carlton Upton Sr. officiating. Interment will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk.

Viewing will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, and from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Lovie Lewis

Mrs. Lovie Wiggins Lewis, 99, of Brooklyn, N.Y., died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, in a New York City hospital.

A native of Nansemond County, she was the daughter of the late Scott and Mariah Wiggins, and the widow of Ruben Lewis.

She was a former member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church of Suffolk.

She is survived by a daughter, Ella Keen of Carrsville; a devoted and caring daughter-in-law, Juanita Lewis of New York City; three granddaughters; one grandson; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, in Mt. Sinai Baptist Church by the Rev. Joseph Goode. Interment will be in the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will be at the home of Ella Keen, 6385 Carrsville Highway in Carrsville.

Joseph Nichols of 2284 Hosier Road, Suffolk, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
