Salvation Army revival services

The Salvation Army in Suffolk will be holding revival services May 8-11 at 400 Bank St. Maj. Danny Delaney from New Orleans will be the guest speaker for Sunday services. On Sunday morning, in honor of Mother’s Day, a luncheon will immediately follow the 11 a.m. service. Delaney will also be speaking Sunday and Monday evenings. On Tuesday, Luis and Barbara Baquedo from Washington D.C. will speak. Salvation Army youth groups will be participating. A &uot;Love Feast&uot; service will be conducted by Cols. J. B. and Mary Matthews on Wednesday. All evening services will start at 6:30 p.m. Several local churches will be joining with their choirs and special music.

Tucker Swamp Baptist Church, 37527 Seacock Chapel Road, Zuni, will have a time of prayer in their sanctuary at noon on Thursday, May 5 in observance of the National Day of Prayer. A barbeque by the pound fundraiser will be offered in the church’s Family Life Center from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 14. The cost is $6 per pound. All proceeds will benefit missionary Jason Witt as he travels to Ghana to assist with a new church. To purchase tickets or for more information, call 242-6553.

Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church

Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church, 635 Brook Ave., Suffolk, will sponsor a Spring Revival at 7 p.m. nightly through Friday. The Rev. Dr. Anthony Copeland of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Suffolk, will be the guest minister for the week. Choirs from the Tidewater area will sing each night.
