Maurice Gordon Herndon, 91, died at his residence, &uot;Greenoch Farm,&uot; in Sperryville on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2003.

He was the son of the late William Gordon Herndon and Elizabeth Scott Herndon Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Florence Eliza-Jane Beale Herndon; two sons, Maurice Gordon Herndon Jr. of Sperryville; and Edwin Beale Herndon, and his wife, Lisa, of Frederick, Md.; three granddaughters, Catherine Elisabeth Herndon and Lisa Marie Herndon, both of Sterling; and Diane Lynne Herndon-Wilson of Leesburg; and two great grandsons, Zachary James and Jacob Dickeron Wilson of Leesburg.

The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in Trinity Episcopal Church, Washington. He will be interred in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Woodville. The Rev. Jennings Hobson III will officiate.

Memorial contributions should be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church.
