Edell Artis Jr., 64, of Stacey Drive, Suffolk, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, in Nansemond Pointe Rehabilitation Center. He was a native of Nansemond County, and was a son of Mrs. Rosa Mae Turner, and the late Edell Artis Sr.
He was a self-employed painter and a former member of First Baptist Church, Orlando.
He is survived by two sons, Edell Artis II (LaVonne) of Suffolk; and Richard Lee Artis (Denise) of Georgia; two daughters, Sharon Geneva Holland of Gates, N.C.; and Lynette Holland of Suffolk; his mother Rosa Mae Turner of Suffolk; four sisters, Rosa Mae Warren (Jessie), Jeraline Artis and Mary Artis, all of Suffolk; Princess Blount of Portsmouth; three brothers, Clarence Lee Artis, William Thomas Artis and Alphones Artis (Willie Mae), all of Suffolk; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four aunts, a sister-in-law, Dolly Ann Holland; a devoted friend, Sarah Holland; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2 in Crocker Funeral Home by Dr. Madison G. Copeland. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of his mother, 100 Dover Ct., Apt. 700.
Raenel G. Forsythe
Raenel &uot;Peachy&uot; Gainer Forsythe, 65, of 247 Chestnut St., Suffolk, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, by the Rev. Clifton Whitlock in Oxford United Methodist Church. Entombment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
Friends may join the family from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in Parr Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.
Parr Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Willie Mitchell
The funeral for Willie Mitchell will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses on White Marsh Road. Burial will be in Carver Cemetery.
