Motorists on Turlington Road should expect delays Monday and Tuesday while the Virginia Department of Transportation installs guardrails on the Southwest Suffolk Bypass.
Delays will be likely, particularly during the times when parents are taking or picking up students at Kilby Shores Elementary School, said Victor Griffin, spokesman for the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Scheduled roadwork includes:
nTurlington Road (Southwest Suffolk Bypass) – Alternating lane closure with one-way flagged traffic near Griggs Street, Feb. 3-4, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
nRoute 13 North/South (Southwest Suffolk Bypass) – Left lane closed in both directions in the work zone just south of downtown Suffolk, Feb. 3-7, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for median work.
nRoute 58 West (Southwest Suffolk Bypass) – Right lane closure from the intersection of Business 58 to the Pitch Kettle Road exit; Monday, Feb. 3-6, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for guardrail work.
nRoute 58 East – Left lane closure between the Suffolk weigh scales and the Hampton Roads Regional Airport in Chesapeake; now until Feb. 2-6, 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning for guardrail installation. Closure could take place Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. if the weather does not allow work overnight.
