Willie Mitchell

Willie Mitchell, 96, of 526 County St., Suffolk, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, in Courtland Health Care. He was born on June 14, 1906 to the late Sylvester and Emma Mitchell.
He and his wife, the late Lena Mitchell, were Jehovah’s Witnesses proclaiming the good news of God’s Kingdom for over 40 years.
Mr. Mitchell was the owner of Tip Top Cleaners on County Street.
He was the brother of the late Clarence Mitchell, and the uncle of Lillian Mitchell Jones of Suffolk.
He leaves to cherish his memory two sons and three daughters; one brother-in-law, Thomas Pope; 47 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many family friends.
The funeral was held from 5 p.m. Monday in Kingdom Hall. Burial was held at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Carver Cemetery.
Abraham Applewhite and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
