Willie L. Wright

Mr. Willie L. Wright, 59, of 2000 Hosier Rd. Suffolk, entered into eternal rest on Monday, Feb. 17, in Autumn Care of Suffolk.

A native of Suffolk, he was the husband of Marion B. Wright, and the son of Blanche V. Wright, and the late Willie Henry Wright.

He was a 1961 graduate of the former East Suffolk High School.

He served in the United States Air Force, and was employed with the Gulf Oil Chevron Corp for a number of years.

Mr. Wright retired from the Western Tidewater Regional Jail as a correctional officer.

He was a member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Men’s Fellowship, a former Junior Trustee and member of the choir.

He was a Heritage member of the East Suffolk Alumni Assoc.

He is survived by his wife, Marion B. Wright; one son, Christopher A. Wright (Valerie); a grandson, Devante Phillips of Suitland, Md.; his mother, Blanche V. Wright, and a brother, William &uot;Harold&uot; Wright (Evelyn) of Suffolk. Also surviving are four aunts, Inez Colbert and Louise Jolly, both of Suffolk; Ann Colbert of Newark, N.J.; and Gladys Bailey of Courtland; one uncle, Daniel Hamlin of Hampton; two devoted cousins, Gloria J. Colbert and Patricia Hernandez; a loving goddaughter, Cherri Phillips. He also had a several loving nieces, nephews, cousins brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21 in Pleasant Union Baptist Church by the Revs V.T. and N.P. Chambers. Interment will be in Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20 in Crocker Funeral Home, which is handling arrangements.
