Robin Riddick, Lee Miller united in First Baptist

Robin Renee Riddick and Gerald Leo Miller Jr. were united in marriage at 4 o’clock in the afternoon of Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002.

The ceremony was held in First Baptist Church. The Rev. David Chauncey, pastor, blessed the marriage.

Following the ceremony, Robin and Lee celebrated with family and friends at the Nansemond River Golf Club.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chester K. Riddick of Suffolk.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Leo Miller Sr. of Jacksonville, Fla.

The bride is the granddaughter of the late Courtney T. Smith and Ruth Smith Accomando, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Chester C. Riddick.

The groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Miller, and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Newsome.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Captain George’s Seafood Restaurant in Virginia Beach.

The bride was escorted by her father and carried the Bible that her mother used at her wedding.

Mrs. LaVerne Dempsey was the mistress of ceremonies.

Ellen Woodcock, longtime friend of the bride, served as maid of honor.

The bridesmaids were Anne Brunnemeyer, Amy Page and Jennifer Pruitt, all friends of the bride.

Clair Williams was the flower girl.

Jerry Miller, father of the groom, served as best man.

The groomsmen were George Glekas, Derrick Hardy and George Pantermakis, all friends of the groom.

Mitchell Williams served as the ring bearer.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wilson were the program attendants, and Mrs. Earlene Hobbs served as the guest book attendant. Mrs. Helen Seldon provided two solos, and Mrs. Heather Rountree Jones gave a personal testimony about Robin and Lee.

The bride is a graduate of Nansemond-Suffolk Academy and Meredith College.

She is the lobbyist for the 56 largest public school districts in Illinois, including Chicago.

The groom is a graduate of North Carolina State University, and earned his Master’s degree from the University of Georgia. He is employed by the Chicago District Golf Assocition as a turf-grass researcher.

After their honeymoon at the Moon Palace Golf Resort in Cancun, Robin and Lee now reside in Naperville, Ill.
